Archive preserves legacy of eternal Gandhi in 34,000 manuscripts, 150 felicitations, 6,000 photo negatives, 200 files of photostats etc. And Library has 35,000 books including 4,500 books from Mahadevbhai Desai's personal collection and books on Gandhian thought. It is a valuable resource for researchers.

Sabarmati Ashram (also known as Gandhi Ashram, Harijan Ashram, or Satyagraha Ashram) is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad adjoining to famous Ashram Road, at the bank of River Sabarmati, 4 miles from the town hall. This was one of the residences of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi spent approximately 12 years of his life here.

This ashram is now a national monument established by the Government of India due to its significance for the Indian independence movement in the form of the Dandi March in 1930. - Wikipedia

Ahmedabad Film Project 2011 - Instant Film making competition

Freeway Film Company has come up with the first ever Ahmedabad Film Project 2011, a film making competition for amateurs. The competition runs with a time limit of 48hours and that is the challenge for participants. Ahmedabad Film Project is a platform for amateurs and professionals and for every person who ever wanted to make film once.

Ahmedabad Film Project 2011 kicks-off on August 19th 8:OOpm onwards, and thus the 48 hours to filmmaking begin.

The participants are required to form a team or participate as individuals, and shoot 5-8 minutes film in the given time limit within the city premises. The 48 hours end on August 21st, Sunday at8:00pm. The theme of the competition will be revealed to participants 30 minutes before the com- petition. The teams will be allowed to select a genre thereafter. After a week, on August 28th, the winning film will be screened and the awards will be given for 8 categories; Best film, Best acting , Best editing,Best cinematography, Best sound design, Best music , Best use of genre and Bestuse of theme. Ritam Bhatnagar, co-founder of AFP said that "Winning teams will not only be get-ting host of other prizes, certificate but a golden opportunity to make a fully funded film for theupcoming Ahmedabad Heritage Week".

Registrations for Ahmedabad Film Project are open fromJuly 15th 2011 and will continue till August 15th 2011. Paritrupta Bagadia, co-founder of the com- pany mentioned that since the opening of entries on July 15th, more than 70 teams have regis-tered in this competition which is a huge number for Ahmedabad, and a large number of entries are still expected.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation ( AMC ) Photo contest and Exhibition

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation ( AMC ) has organizing a photo contest and exhibition. The photo contest / exhibition would be under 2 categories (1) Professional and (2) Amateurs on the theme “My Ahmedabd through My Eyes” .

Themes : (A) Life (B) Infrastructure (C) Cultural / Festival and (D) Heritage.


Exhibition of selected photos will be held at Sanskar Kendra, Paldi from May 27, 2011 to May 29, 2011.


One can submit maximum 3 photos in each category (total 12 in all maximum) in soft copy - high resolution on CD/DVD and mention the category (Professional / Amateur) and subject along with the name of the photographer, address, contact number, e-mail ID. Entries should be submitted before May 20, 2011 during the working hours of 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at below mentioned address.
